Overview |
A conference designed for health care providers, the pharmaceutical industry, pharmacies, pharmacy service companies, government agencies, and other entities concerned about providing quality pharmaceutical care to low income and vulnerable populations while ensuring compliance with drug pricing laws.
|
 |
| Introduction |
This event is hosted by the 340B Coalition, a group of over a dozen national associations that represent more than 12,000 health care providers and programs participating in the Federal 340B drug discount program. You will hear from key government officials who help implement the 340B and Medicaid drug rebate programs, including representatives from the Office of Pharmacy Affairs (OPA), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), and State Medicaid agencies. You will also hear from the HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) and other government agencies about the latest investigatory and enforcement initiatives affecting 340B and Medicaid. Other speakers will include distinguished members of Congress and important legislative staff members who have played a role in implementation of the 340B program and other key pharmaceutical programs such as Medicare Part D and the Medicaid rebate program.
This conference is unparalleled in providing timely information and relevant strategies for providers, government agencies, and industry on how to expand access to comprehensive pharmaceutical care, while complying with the complex array of drug pricing laws at both the Federal and State levels. For example, the long-awaited revisions to the 340B patient definition guidelines may be published before July, and we plan to discuss and provide feedback in this area. Upcoming guidelines that would allow the use of multiple contract pharmacies will also be addressed. Also on the agenda is a discussion of the much-anticipated follow-up report by the HHS OIG that will address whether 340B providers are being overcharged for 340B drugs. You will also receive an update on Federal investigations into allegations of drug diversion and learn how to prevent diversion.
In addition, we plan to devote several sessions at the conference to the future of pharmaceutical manufacturer patient assistance programs (PAPs) as well as the status of the Medicare Part D program. Both of these programs are key components to pharmaceutical access and we will provide the latest information about the implementation of Part D as well as the changing landscape of PAPs.
There will be continuing education credits for pharmacists. |
