Overview |
| A conference designed for health care providers, the pharmaceutical industry,
pharmacies, pharmacy service companies, government agencies, and other entities concerned about providing quality pharmaceutical care to low income and
vulnerable populations while ensuring compliance with drug pricing laws. |
 |
| Introduction |
With Senator Obama capturing the White House and Democrats increasing their control over Congress, the legislative and regulatory landscape in Washington will shift dramatically over the next few months, triggering speculation about the impact on the 340B drug discount program. Meanwhile, the Bush Administration is making efforts to publish a host of pending regulations and guidelines, including the possible publication of three notices that would introduce fundamental changes to the 340B program: tightening of the definition of patient, expansion of the number of pharmacies with which covered entities may contract, and enrollment of free-standing children’s hospitals into the program. The 340B Coalition and Apexus/ 340B Prime Vendor Program invite you to attend its 5th annual Winter Conference to learn about and prepare for important 340B changes that covered entities, manufacturers and other 340B stakeholders can expect to see in 2009.
Topics to include:
- Special look at how the 340B and Medicaid rebate programs will be impacted by a new President and Congress
- Legislation to improve integrity of 340B program and to expand program discounts to new entities and inpatient drugs
- Other drug pricing legislation and efforts in Washington to expand pharmaceutical access
- Increased enforcement against 340B overcharging and possibility of more litigation as a result of new federal court decision
- Fate of government’s proposed changes to 340B definition of patient—will tighter restrictions be applied to record keeping, home care, patient referrals, outside prescribers and discharge prescriptions?
- Update on government's proposal to expand the use of contract pharmacies in 340B program
- Update on expansion of 340B program to children's hospitals
- Small roundtables to address specific needs of attendees including guidance on inventory management, stock replacement, patient verification and audit preparation
- Status of legislation to increase Medicaid rebates and 340B discount
