Overview |
340B drug discount program participants suddenly find themselves at a time of great transition in a transformed landscape. National health reform, which has dominated the debate in Washington over the past year, has great implications for the 340B program. The changes to the 340B program contained in health care reform would extend the 340B discount to the hospital inpatient setting and add thousands of rural hospitals and other health care facilities to the program. It will also significantly increase enforcement of the program for all 340B providers, as well as the pharmaceutical industry.
At the same, time the highly anticipated children’s hospital final guidelines have been published. In addition, all 340B covered entities will soon be permitted to expand the use of contract pharmacies and networks with the imminent publication of final contract pharmacy guidelines.
All of these changes translate into the most dramatic reform of the 340B program since its inception in 1992.
Our 6th Annual 340B Winter Conference, co-hosted by Apexus, is the perfect opportunity to examine where 340B stakeholders go next, at the federal level and in the states, to prepare themselves for this new environment. You will hear from those who were directly involved in the changes to the 340B and Medicaid drug rebate programs and will be involved in implementing these changes. We will examine the key issues and interests that shaped the 340B reform legislation and will provide you with a roadmap for the implementation process. |
