Please join us next July for the 17th Annual 340B Coalition Conference
July 15-17, 2013 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC.
Stay tuned to www.340bcoalition.org for more details.

Over the last year, the federal 340B drug discount program has undergone unprecedented scrutiny by Congress, federal regulators, and the pharmaceutical industry.  The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) established an annual recertification process for all 340B covered entities and conducted its first audits of entities to ensure that discounted drugs are not provided to ineligible patients and that manufacturers are not subjected to duplicate discounts, which occur when a manufacturer gives both a Medicaid rebate and 340B discount on the same drug.  Pharmaceutical manufacturers are preparing their own audits and are closely monitoring covered entities for 340B program compliance.  At the same time, some influential members of Congress continue to carefully examine and question how providers and other stakeholders are utilizing the program. Some key lawmakers are calling for significant restrictions including limiting the program to uninsured and possibly low-income patients and legislation has recently been introduced that would exempt generic sterile injectables from the 340B program.

The conference, which will come just days after the Presidential inauguration and the beginning of the new session of Congress, will address this increased program scrutiny and other 340B program challenges. Conference highlights will include sessions devoted to the implications of the new political landscape for the 340B program and its stakeholders, how covered entities are using their program savings, billing and reimbursement policies, government and manufacturer audits and annual recertification and enrollment.  Sessions will also address contract pharmacy compliance and implementation considerations, the future of multiple contract pharmacies, third-party reimbursement challenges and solutions, and specialty drugs and limited distribution networks.

Whether you work for a covered entity, pharmacy, pharmaceutical manufacturer, 340B-oriented business or government agency, there is no better way to stay informed and play a role in shaping the future of the program than to attend the conference. You will learn from key players involved in the program, including health care providers, industry representatives, government regulators, federal contractors, and representatives from 340B advocacy organizations.

In addition to the emphasis on policy matters, the conference will provide you with many opportunities for hands-on, practical advice to help with program implementation. If you are a health care provider, you will learn how to enhance compliance, improve care, and meet your indigent patients’ needs.   If you work for a pharmaceutical company or other pharmacy-related business, you will learn how to prepare and respond to this heightened focus on compliance and accountability. You will also have an opportunity to network directly with current and prospective customers. There also will be opportunities to participate in small breakout sessions to get the advice you need and to share ideas with others.

The conference will also feature two special pre-conference workshops, (1) on the basics of the 340B program and (2) making a compliance plan work including using self-audits to enhance 340B compliance and accountability. Click here to view the agenda.

We look forward to seeing you in January!
